Why Colabello Struggles Against MLB Pitching....
Compare.
Just stare at the clips and get a feel for the sudden quickness of Cabrera's launch compared to the slow pace and length of Colabello's.
The difference is not just style.
Can you see Colabello push the barrel forward? Compare his barrel speed's location to Cabrera's.
Cabrera has a fused torso that is used to create a corner. Therefore his swing comes from two moving parts....his hands and his rear hip action/pivot. He whips from behind....and then around....the corner.
Colabello's swing is quite army. They are way too loose. They work independently of the torso. The torso is not fused. He does a good job of turning the barrel. Barrel turning will square up the baseball FAR better than a knob pull/push. That squaring compresses the ball better than a knob pull/push slice. It will drive the ball. But because his swing is from a 'loose' arm platform....which included external rotation of the humerus.....instead of from a fused torso....he can not get the barrel to enough locations quick enough.
Colabello's swing is very army compared to Cabrera. It's a swing that results when you follow instruction that doesn't fully understand the pattern. It results when an instructor jumps the gun.
You see.....Cabrera UPTICKS. Colabello does not. Those of you who are members may recognize the significance of that.Tags: None
