Does your swing SQUARE the baseball? Or does it SLICE the baseball?

Does your swing COMPRESS the baseball? Or does it 'sling it'?

Only a consistent quality BARREL TURN....THE SWIVEL....will square the ball consistently.

Knob pullers....Barrel pushers....Hand path hookers....Ulnar deviating top hands (hammering)....ALL....will slice the ball way too often.

Only a bat PIVOTING about a fixed point will consistently square and compress the baseball. That SOUND you hear when watching a high level hitter hit.....is ball compression....QUALITY ball compression. It is barrel striking ball....from a 90 degree pivot....about a fixed pivot point.

What is a fixed pivot point? A fixed pivot point is just that....a point that is fixed. In hitting....the pivot point is the hands. And the hands ARE FIXED....if the arms have been removed. The TORSO turning....will move the hands....and that is ok. But when the ARMS move the hands....you no longer have a fixed pivot point. The pivot point is fixed THROUGH LAUNCH....in a high level swing.

What/where/when is through launch? At 30fps....a high level swing is 4-5 frames of video. You can make a case that up through frame 2 the swing can be aborted. So....some....deduct....that the swing is then only 3 frames. However....the swing is a seamless overlap of load and unload. Those first two frames represent that overlap. Those first two frames are BOTH load and unload. And you can't swing efficiently without them. So....for the purpose of this discussion....a high level frame is 4-5 frames of video.

It is during those first two frames.....or more....depending on the quality of the pitch and the amount of adjustment needed....that the hands are FIXED....and the bat pivots around them.....REARWARD. The bat is LAUNCHED REARWARD....into an arc....away from the ball initially. And it pivots around the hands to the ball. The REAR FOREARM becomes an axle. When fully launched....the bat goes on 'autopilot'. Meaning....the hitter has LAUNCHED AND SPENT. Meaning....there is no more force being applied AFTER frame 2....on a good swing at a good pitch. The barrel reaches high speed INSTANTLY. The barrel is speeds around an arc....centered at....the hands....around the rear forearm....for those first two frames or so. AS THAT HAPPENS.....the hitter reads the pitch....and makes a decision to finish or abort....and....WHERE to take the speeding barrel. Leave it there for meat. The arms will 'let out'....or....'pull in'....or....raise....or lower....and/or....the posture adjusts up...or....down. And/or....the rear leg turns you to get to the inside pitch....or 'holds' so you can launch into ball flight for the outside pitch. Many different things happen SIMULTANEOUSLY....and subconsciously. Any and all adjustabilities that are performed THEN.....DO NOT INTERFERE WITH THE PIVOTING BARREL. And THAT is the magic of the high level pattern. It has already been launched. It is already speeding. It is already up to speed.....it gets up to speed instantly....by a combination of the barrel turn....and the burst of the SnF unload. THEN....a hitter directs it to the ball.

This allows maximum ball squaring. This allows maximum BALL COMPRESSION. It creates a system where an unusually high percentage of balls are compressed....because the barrel is PIVOTING....not sliding.

But when you deliver energy 'down the length' of the bat....whether pushed or pulled....instead of turning the barrel.....now you have trouble. Now....your energy supply and your swing delivery mechanism ARE THE SAME THING. The same mechanism does both. And therefore....you can't adjust without degrading the speed of your barrel. The adjustment of a 'down the length' swing....results in slicing....a very high percentage of the time.....and not ball squaring. When you've decided to go 'there'....and your engine and delivery system are one and the same....and suddenly you need to adjust to 'here'....degradation of the swing is automatic. Balls will be sliced at a very high rate.

Slicing is the ball riding up the barrel a bit before exiting. Yes....a small bit. A very small bit. But....enough to reduce compression. The 'not quite' sound. Yes....we are talking about micro-seconds. But....whatever time the bat/ball contact takes....if you are turning the barrel....you're chances of compressing the ball are high. If you are pulling or pushing....with the arms....moving your hands....you will slice it very very often.

Here is the mistake many make. They 'get' the ball squaring stuff. They buy in. They turn the barrel. They square a lot of balls. But.....they can't get to many balls....strikes....pitches they should be swinging at....because of WHAT they are doing....and HOW they are turning their barrel. It must be done in such a way as to INCLUDE SnF. Only WITH SnF....will you have the added suddenness to catch up to great speed....or adjust to movement.....or hold for the offspeed.

Tell em where you got it.
