The NONSENSE Behind Frame Counting
Have you noticed that almost anyone who has played a bit of baseball/softball has a 5 frame swing.....or less.....regardless of their technique? Mechanically good swings....and....mechanically poor swings....often times are BOTH 5 frame swings.
Then why are you counting them?
Or....the better question is....
Are you counting the right thing?
Maybe you should be counting the frames BEFORE launch....to fully understand what the problem is.Tags: None

I haven't had this much fun since the last time the chappedass one engaged me.
YES....he did....he literally posted this clip....

....to make a point that the shoulder doesn't lower before GO.
Can you say stupid?
Have you noticed how stupid breeds stupid?

The kid on the left....has to 'work' to achieve the position he gets to in the above clip. By that I mean....it is a move separate and distinct from what he does to swing the bat. So...he has to learn to perform the above frames BEFORE he can launch. Which means he has to time the above frames to the pitcher....and to a pitched ball....BEFORE he can launch. Those frames, obviously, are BEFORE launch. But....for all frame counters....you really have to include them in your frame count....BECAUSE HE CAN NOT LAUNCH WITHOUT THOSE FRAMES. YES....his SWING frame count is only 4 or 5 frames after launch....but those frames BEFORE launch....that he has to perform....and time....MUST BE EXECUTED ALSO.....SO THAT....he can launch. So they must be counted. And timing those frames against a good pitcher....with 'stuff'....and gas....and location....and deception....is a KILLER. His problem is he doesn't overlap. There is no seamless transition from load to unload. There are no DUPLICATE frames....meaning....frames that are BOTH load and unload. He has two separate moves. Load. Unload. And BOTH must be timed and executed before he can swing.
But take a look at the kid on the right. He is doing ONE THING....stretching....PROPERLY....the entire time.....which loads him. He can launch at any point along the way. All he has to do to launch is TURN THE BARREL....because his stretch reaches his hands/barrel. ONE MOVE. Seamless overlap from load to unload. Other than the barrel turn you can't detect any difference in his action. Because he can launch at any point along the way....you do not need to count those frames in his count. He is stretched adequately IMMEDIATELY....because of what he does BEFORE movement is seen. And the movement just CONTINUES the stretch process. In his case...he is pulling back a rubber band...it gets stretched adequately....and then increases....and the barrel can be released at any point within his timing window. To simplify....he loads around.....and unloads by continuing around.
The kid above left....is not stretching....their is no connection between his lower and upper bodies. Watch his hands come forward for several frames AS his hips open. That is a sign of NO STRETCH. If there was stretch....the hands would remain back for a much longer period of time. His lower body gets 'worked' open....it freewheels....without encumbrance from the upper.....so it provides momentum only. He loads back....bleeds the corner as the hands get pulled forward without stretch....unloads forward. There is no 'around' in his swing. No overlap. No seamless transition from load to unload.
THEREFORE....he has slop in his system. Those frames before launch....that he has to execute before he has sufficient momentum and range of motion to unload FORWARD....MUST BE INCLUDED IN HIS FRAME COUNT.
The kid on the left has a ROPE that gets pulled tight...to it's range of motion....by the momentum....and by his load...but the momentum DOMINATES his hands....rope is tight but can't get tighter....at go he has to push the rope forward with his arms....because his lower maxed out it's range of motion before launch.
The kid on the right has a RUBBER BAND....or....a torsion spring....that just keeps stretching....and he can unload BY PULLING BACK....which is what he is doing to load....which INCREASES the stretch....yes....the unload is also the load....it's seamless....and his barrel gets SNAPPED through at go.
Booyah.
Manny is 16 frames from start to LAG....doesn't even get to contact. Chappedass is saying Manny has launched. I guess he has a 25-30 frame swing.

How can one guy do this to himself?
