What direction would you like the force, that is generated out of your lower body, go?

Does it make sense that it should go 'into the ball'?

If so....some guru's have major problems.

Let's start with Mr. Linear.....Doc Yeager. He teaches the linear push/block/push. Push off the back leg/foot....into a block of the lead leg....followed by a push back of the lead leg. This LINEAR action INITIATES rotation....in his uneducated opinion. Oh yes....he has a PHD. But....that does not mean he is educated when it comes to the high level swing. He fell for some non-truths....and then built a hitting system around them. Anyway....the linear forward push from the back leg foot SHIFTS THE WEIGHT OF THE HITTER....FIRST....THEN....rotation starts. Or....said another way....THEN the swing starts. It is bad enough that the shift happens first....then the swing starts. That means the power of the weight shift is bled....spent....BEFORE the swing starts. That means it does not power the swing. But....aside from the when....lets talk about the DIRECTION of that linear force. OBVIOUSLY....it is forward....toward the pitcher. To my knowledge he does not teach a step toward the plate. So, with a 'square to the plate' stance....and a step forward...toward the pitcher....that direction IS NOT TOWARD THE BALL. The ball you're swing at is toward the plate....give or take. The ball is 'toward the opposite batters box....and forward some. That direction is DIAGONAL.....from the body. That direction is toward the 2Bman if you're right-handed. Or toward the SS if you're left-handed. So....you Yeagerites....good luck squaring the baseball when your power pulls you away from it.

Now....how about those rotational guys? What does their lower body do? What direction is their lower body force? You know....Nyman, Mankin. What is the direction of their rotational force? Um....it is toward the dugout BEHIND them...away from the ball. A right-handed batters rotational force direction.....is toward the 3B dugout. A lefty's rotational force is toward the 1B dugout. Again...it is away from the ball. And....even though you might say 'well it goes toward the plate or towad opposite middle infielder before it goes to the dugout....and....you're correct....the problem is.....that rotation is their POWER SOURCE. And it doesn't get up to speed until it takes the hard left....or the hard right. And their barrel does not get up to speed until that rotation force is turned toward the dugout. Their speed is quite late. Very late. AND....when it reaches a usable level....it is going AWAY FROM THE BALL at contact.

So....what is proper. The proper lower body load is a stretch AWAY FROM the oppo batter box....AROUND the ball of the rear femur. The rear hip coils AROUND the ball of the rear femur. The back muscles pull back AWAY FROM the opposite batter box....or....further 'around'. There is a tug of war going on such that....the direction of pull....which is both against and around the rear leg....and....away from the opposite middle infielder....and when the stretch is broken....it move BOTH rotationally and linearly. It turns 'about the rear leg'....and....the rear leg moves linearly toward the opposite middle infielder....toward....and DIRECTLY INTO....the ball. Both the rotational force....and the linear weight shift....go INTO THE BALL. THAT....is high level. The purely rotationalists....and the Yeager linearists....can not get ALL of their energy into the ball....because their power source....and their delivery source....are one in the same. And.....the task at hand REQUIRES great power....great speed. So the power source HAS to go ALL IN. But it is slow developing....and it doesn't get up to speed quick enough....so the linearists shift their weight THEN swing....which means the weight shift DOES NOT POWER THE SWING. And the rotationalists....TURN with great force....to get up to speed....and when they finally do....they have over spun...and they pull off the ball.

A great example of the trouble both rotationalists and linearists fight is to watch them struggle to DRIVE a ball to the opposite field. They simply can not do it. They can flare a few that direction. But they can not drive it oppo. Their mind KNOWS....FEELS....the power outage before they swing. Their mind KNOWS....FEELS....they have no power going 'the other direction'....and you can tell before you even swing....that you can't do it.

When your linear weight shift and your rotational force BOTH go INTO the ball directionally....you have something special. And the only way to do that is to learn to Stretch N Fire. You have to learn that the hips DO NOT ROTATE. But in fact, they RESIST ROTATION....and they do so at such an angle so that the unload....the complete unload....driven by the LEG....very similar to the hands/forearms.....both the weight shift force and the rotary force....is TOWARD the ball....INTO the ball.

Stare at AGon's rear hip. His rotation is very INCOMPLETE....which proves ROTATION is not powering the swing. You can't have it both ways. You can't say he's rotating because he hit the ball out of the park oppo....and rotation drives the swing....and then watch his incomplete rotation. Honest people have to reconcile that. But....there is a turn....a bit....around the leg....and the rear hip/leg move toward....into....the ball also. Neither the rotationalists nor the linearists can do that.
