Manny's hands have YET TO MOVE....in relation to his torso....yet his barrel has been launched and is almost at contact. What little forward hand movement you see at the end of this clip....(extension at the rear elbow a bit)....DO YOUR REALLY CALL THAT FAST?

Someone....many....need an education.

A high level swing....has STATIONERY HANDS...(um....that is not very fast) for the longest possible amount of time. The hands are STATIONERY....in relation to the torso....they remain at the rear armpit or shoulder tip....AS....they and the forearms turn the barrel. This is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL to a high level swing.

Keep in mind we are dealing with tenths of a second. The segments are small. And we also have to square bat and ball. So they will move. Pitch locations will require movement.

The real issue is....BARREL SPEED....when does it move....and how does it move....in relation to....the hands/arms/torso/leg.

To speak of 'fast hands'....is to speak in long standing outdated 'coach speak'....that has been proven ineffective by thousands of kids. The best swing ever taken....launched the barrel without ANY forward independent hand movement until follow through.

Fast hands....and a tight pivot point....are mutually exclusive.

Make your choice.
